### How It Works
Unlike traditional valves, the fluorine-lined globe valve requires pressure to be applied to the valve disc during closure to ensure a leak-proof seal. When the medium enters from below the valve disc, the operating force must overcome the combined resistance of the valve stem's friction, packing force, and the thrust generated by the medium's pressure. The force needed to close the valve is greater than that for opening, necessitating a larger valve stem diameter to prevent stem breakage. Advances in self-sealing valve technology have shifted the flow direction, entering the valve chamber from the top of the valve disc. This innovation reduces the closing force and increases the opening force, allowing for a smaller stem diameter and enhancing the valve's sealing capability. Chinese valve standards, known as the "three to" regulations, mandate that the flow direction for globe valves should be from top to bottom.
### Construction and Applications
The steel body of the fluorine-lined globe valve features a metal housing with a lining of fluorinated plastic, providing exceptional resistance to a wide range of corrosive substances. It is suitable for various concentrations of acids, including sulfuric, hydrochloric, and hydrofluoric acids, as well as organic acids. It operates effectively in temperatures ranging from -50 to 150°C and is also fit for pipelines carrying corrosive gases and liquids, including strong oxidizers and strong alkaline organic solvents. The fluorine-lined globe valve is extensively utilized in industries such as petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical, metallurgy, and electric power, where strong corrosive media are prevalent.
